Art Appreciation, "The Museum Experience" MOD2

The trip to the Yale Art Gallery was wonderful. Up until this point, I had never visited the museum and so I did not quite know what to expect upon arriving there. The first thing that struck me was the building itself. Yale is very well known for its neo-gothic architechture throughout its campus and affiliate buildings. This is the kind of pictureseque design that I associate with Yale so I was taken by surprise by the most contemporary design of the gallery itself. The building is contructed of four floors of squared and retangular concrete and brick slabs supported by steel beams. The design is geometrically symmetrical which accounts for its simplistic beauty through its use of natural light and glass. Upon entering the building, the foyer instantly transforms into an exhibition as sculptures greet you at the door. The floor plan is very open with much room to consider the miniture drawings and artifacts on the first floor
